The format of permit numbers differ from agency to agency. A permit number consists typically of alpha-numeric characters. Sometimes, it may include special characters such as dashes ("-"). Spaces (" "), however, are not common. In most cases, permit numbers are not case sensitive. Here are two examples of what the permit number may look like:

• B97C2701
• 01BLD-00000-02701

You can typically find the permit number printed at the top of your permit printout. If you don't remember or cannot find the permit number, you can try performing a search by address.
